Please arrive 10 minutes early. \nSpeaker Bios\nLen Tran\nBeing intrigued with public speaking\, Len joined Toastmasters in 2018 to learn the art of public speaking.  During the first year\, with his enthusiasm\, he competed in the International Speech Contest and was placed 3rd in District 29.  Len competed again in the following year and won first place in the 2020 International Speech Contest in District 29.  Besides toastmasters\, Len is a Chemical Engineer by day and teaches martial arts to a group of adults. \n  \nEdmond Joe\nEdmond Joe is no stranger to District 29.  For the past 13 years\, he photographed District 29’s events\, taught Toastmasters how to create a Toastmasters speech in 12 minutes\, and served in numerous District 29 leadership roles. \nWhen he first joined Toastmasters\, it took him 6 months before he had enough courage to give his first 4 – 6-minute icebreaker speech.  A few years later\, he won first place in the District 27 Humorous Speech Contest among a pool of 4\,500 Toastmasters with his speech about living life with the last name of “Joe”.

DESCRIPTION:The GMUT Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest will be held on Wednesday\, October 2 at 12:00 via Zoom. Heather Aleknavage will serve as the Contest Coordinator and we have many openings to fill\, so please sign up by Friday\, September 8 using the sign-up sheet sent to club members. Contact Heather if you need it to be resent. \nThe Humorous Speech Contest\nContestants present a five- to seven-minute humorous speech that must be thematic in nature (opening\, body\, and close)\, not a monologue (series of one-liners). \nTable Topics\nThe topic of this impromptu speech is the same for all contestants who only learn about it when they are introduced by the contest chair. Basically\, each contestant will be given the same question and their 1-2 minute response will be judged. \nEligibility Requirements\nTo be eligible to compete in any official Toastmasters speech contest\, a member must be a paid member of the club\, area\, division\, and district in which he or she is competing.
