The GMUT Humorous Speech and Table Topics Contest will be held on Wednesday, October 2 at 12:00 via Zoom. Heather Aleknavage will serve as the Contest Coordinator and we have many openings to fill, so please sign up by Friday, September 8 using the sign-up sheet sent to club members. Contact Heather if you need it to be resent.
The Humorous Speech Contest
Contestants present a five- to seven-minute humorous speech that must be thematic in nature (opening, body, and close), not a monologue (series of one-liners).
Table Topics
The topic of this impromptu speech is the same for all contestants who only learn about it when they are introduced by the contest chair. Basically, each contestant will be given the same question and their 1-2 minute response will be judged.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible to compete in any official Toastmasters speech contest, a member must be a paid member of the club, area, division, and district in which he or she is competing. The club must also be in good standing which it is!
The official contest rulebook is here: 2024-2025 Speech Contest Rulebook
