Why Should I Join?

Toastmasters is for everyone. Whether your public speaking skills are at the beginner’s stage or you are a seasoned professional, you can benefit as a member. When you participate in Toastmasters, you gain many skills, such as:

  • Become a better communicator
  • Increase your self-confidence
  • Build leadership skills
  • Build relationships and gain networking opportunities

How Do I Join?

Come to any meeting as a guest and join if you like what you see! George Mason Toastmasters is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. When you are ready to join:

  1. Complete the Membership Application
  2. Email it to the Club V.P. Membership, Stephanie Oliver
  3. Coordinate with the Club Treasurer to pay dues as outlined below.

Club Dues

To enjoy the full benefits of membership, members pay dues to Toastmasters International (TMI) and GMU Toastmasters (GMUT) every six months. Renewal payments are due twice a year on April 1 and October 1.

  • Renewing members: $60 to renew for the six-month period, plus $5 for club dues.
  • New members: $20 new member one-time fee, plus $10 per month (depending on the time when you join), and $5 club dues.

Payment Options

New, reinstating, and renewing membership payments may be paid directly by credit card on the Toastmasters International website. There is also a GMUT club fee of $5. This fee is outside of the TMI payment structure. Members may pay club dues in the form of check, cash, or Venmo.

If you prefer to pay your complete dues by check, cash, or Venmo, please see the options below to submit a $65 payment ($60 plus $5 club dues) all in one.

  • Check – Mail a check made out to “GMU Toastmasters” to the Club Treasurer.
